North and South Korea Take a Breath

After three days of talks, North Korea and South Korea have wisely backed away from a dangerous confrontation. The two adversaries haven’t begun to come to grips with the unresolved hostilities from their 1950-53 war, but at least both sides proved capable of agreeing on a deal that, for now at least, avoids a new military conflict.
